Shrek TicketsShrek the Musical is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It was choreographed by Josh Prince. Prosthetic features are used a great deal in the musical. Based on William Steig's novel and Dreamworks' popular animated film, Shrek the Musical follows the adventures of Shrek, a lovable swamp-dwelling ogre; his wisecracking sidekick, Donkey; the lovely Princess Fiona; Lord Farquaad and a chorus of everybody's favorite fractured fairytale creatures. With more layers than ever and a completely original new score, Shrek the Musical proves that there's more to the story than meets the ears. The music, with its blues and gospel influences, takes a very different direction. Christopher Sieber was by far the most impressive part of the show. In an impressive display of athleticism, he parades around the stage on his knees although his character is very short. You’ll like Sutton Foster as Princess Fiona. Audiences have been in love with Foster’s voice and dancing since Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she won a Tony. The show features numbers of a variety of musical styles which flow naturally as a part of the action. The show opens with Shrek's parents telling him of the "Big Bright Beautiful World" that he will discover as he travels into the world. The show won the Tony Awards for best Costume Design ,Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Brian d’Arcy James), Outstanding Set Design (Tim Hatley) Outstanding Costume Design (Tim Hatley). In the best tradition of screwball comedy, they transform glower friction into dewy-eyed romance. Story of Sherk
Shrek the Musical is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It is based on the 1990 book Shrek! by William Steig as well as the 2001 DreamWorks film of the same name. This new Broadway version of the funny, enchanting story features Shrek, his wisecracking sidekick Donkey, lovely Princess Fiona, vain Lord Farquaad, and a wacky chorus of neurotic fairytale creatures. Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. But why does she always run off when the sun sets? This unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairy tales. Everyone can enjoy this fantastic fantasy created show. |
